Hämeenlinna city
Hämeenlinna is the administrative centre of the province of Southern Finland, a traditional and vibrant educational and cultural town at the junction of nationally important rail, road and waterway network.

Hämeenlinna presents the ideal combination of nature and culture. Already 370 years old, the city is full of historical sights and surrounded by beautiful nature reserves. The city's landmark is its medieval red brick castle and Hämeenlinna is also famous for its unique Aulanko Park and as the birthplace of Finnish composer Jean Sibelius.

Today, Hämeenlinna enjoys a vibrant commercial and artistic life. Amongst its best-known output are beautiful and valuable design products. A stroll down Raatihuoneenkatu street sampling the city's sights, restaurants and boutiques, will give the visitor a first taste of this historical city.

Restaurants
There are several restaurants, cafés, etc., in and around Hämeenlinna. Prices of food and beverages do normally cover taxes and service fees. Payment by international credit cards is accepted by most restaurants and hotels. Groups are recommended to book tables in advance.

Markets
Are opened from Monday – Friday between 8.00 and 21.00. On Saturdays markets are opened between 8.00 and 18.00 and on Sundays between 12.00 and 21.00.

Wine, spirits and liqueur can be bought at special shops called Alko.
